My Farewell!

I've had many friends ask to see pictures from the pageant and when I gave up my crown. It's touching to hear my directors remind me I never "give up" my crown, I just pass a new one along. It was a year of great opportunity and as I mentioned the opportunities are still coming. I have been booking various speaking engagements as well as book signings and a few appearances as well. I have started a new blog for friends to follow titled Lisa Dean. This blog was soley dsigned for my year as Mrs. Illinois America. I invite you to continue following as I will continue to journal and share all of life's great blessings: My family, friends, work, and service. I'm thankful to many who have sent such positive feedback in regards to my year. Receiving emails, letters, and messages on Face book have been countless. To hear that my year has inspired some of you to try new things, discover your gifts and talents, or know that you can, and do make a difference in the world are all amazing words to my ear. You have truly blessed me! . My new blog will be up and running soon. It will be filled with more speaking engagements, "vitamins for the mind", encouragement, and yes, family photos too! Yes, I have been negligent with this blog but with good reason..so let me say I am sorry for that....and will post pictures from the pageant, speaking engagements, and Kennedy's pageant soon. The past few months have been quite hectic since giving up my crown as Mrs. Illinois America 2008. The year came to an end but the festivities and "pre booked" appearances did not. On top of that I am thrilled to say that our orphan home in Africa is now complete as well as a hospice we built with my mother and father. Through my year as Mrs. Illinois and the launch of my book, "Girls of Greatness", speaking engagements, plus a move, not to mention being a wife and mother, there were times when I felt a bit overwhelmed( to say the least). But I always know where my strength comes from and that is in God alone. He also has blessed me with an unbelievable family and genuine friends. It is at those times that you find out who you are and who you are amongst. I have had an unbelievable year as Mrs. Illinois and now that reign is over but the many responsibilities and my passions for purposeful living has not. I have had the opportunity to continue speaking as well as "meet and greets" for book signings, and every now and then still be asked to make an appearance as Mrs. Illinois 2008. With the encouragement of my directors, I do. I think it's wonderful if I can still bring exposure to the organization that has offered me so much. I have heard of other past queens getting together for a Breast Cancer Walk, or one making an appearance on Oprah, or one being a spokesmodel for a dentist. How wonderful that there are many queens out there bringing exposure to the organization that brought so much to their lives. So I say "Go Girls"..bring more exposure to the Mrs. Illinois Organization. It only strengthens the foundation of which it was built, while reaching many others throughout our state and beyond.

Barrington Spa Appearance

It was a nice time to spend with the owners and patrons at the Barrington Nails and Spa in South Barrington. The owners had asked for an appearance and it was a nice time taking photos with guests and signing autographs. The owners were so gracious they greeted me with a warm welcome and beautiful bouquet of flowers. Thanks to all!

I have had the most unbelievable year as Mrs. Illinois. I have had the opportunity to shoot with some amazing photographers all over the nation. I shot with Dan Duverney who is a very near and dear friend of mine in Chicago. I've also had the pleasure to fly to New York and shoot with Fadil Berisha, who is the official photographer of the Miss. USA and Miss Universe Pageant. This past month I had the opportunity to fly to Alabama and shoot with Clay Spann. Here I am in his makeup chair waiting for the masterpiece to be finished. Clay is such an artist and every model...his pallet. He is amazing. It was a whirlwind trip. One day there and back. Here I am with Clay and then with a solider at the airport who wanted to take a picture with me...it was the hair and makeup I'm sure!

The Barrington Junior Women's Club hosted an event at Pinstripes in South Barrington. The event was a fun filled event with over 200 in attendance and benefiting domestic violence. I have had the honor to speak at various events throughout the years in regards to domestic violence as well as the empowerment of women and children. This is a cause that is very near and dear to me. I was asked by the event chair if they could auction "me" off. what fun. It was a silent auction that was a day in the life of Mrs. Illinois. The day included a limo ride to a photo shoot, a lunch together, then a mini shopping spree. All things that any queen would want! I know some little girl will be thrilled to have won such an item, but I may be even more excited to get to do it with her! Here I am with my husband, Dean, and the event chair, Sonal Patel and her husband Vip.

Speaking Engagement at The Childrens' Museuum

I was asked to speak at the Children's Museum in Frankfort, IL. It was a pleasure to speak to a group of young girls and share my book "Girls of Greatness". It's always nice to hear feedback from girls that enjoy reading it, but it's even nicer when I get a chance to meet them in person and connect with them one on one. We discussed a few points in the book and I then did an activity with the girls. My mom and Kennedy joined me and the three of us had a great time not only at the museum but then jetting off to another appearance at Drury Lane in Oakbrook, that afternoon. Here I am signing books for patrons and then with the President of the Board for the Museum.

Not long after Kennedy won Pre Teen Miss Illinois USA Dream Girl we had our first appearance together. We were celebrity judges at the Wheaton Community Easter Bonnet Contest. We were also special guests at the lovely boutique, The Stork's Cradle, where we greeted guests. Kennedy got a kick out of all the little girls as they looked up to her and she served them special chocolate candy eggs. I have to say as a mom, I am proud of my little girl. It's a joy to share the same passions together and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sharing appearances with my daughter....I love it!!

This Friday I am a featured guest speaker at the annual Women's Helath and Business Symposium. It will be quite an experience speaking to a large group of women on balance. Something I have talked about with many women's organizations. The invite is open to all!!! And over 750 women are expected to attend.

Vegas and The Osmonds!!!!

This past year has been an amazing one to say the least. The appearances, talks, book signings, and my trip with my second family (aka, my directors), the Acetos. We went to Vegas for some sun, relaxation, and the Osmonds! My directors are very close friends with the Osmond family and so for our "mini vacation" they took me to Vegas! Julie and I relaxed in the sun every afternoon. Then, it was off for a late afternoon of shopping with Joe, Marcie, and BeBe. What a trooper Joe was, he didn't complain once, even when he carried the bags! We had a weekend of laughter, fun, and FOOD! The Acetos introduced me to the Osmonds and I introduced them to a true buffet!
Growing up I always remember watching the Donny and Marie Show as a young girl. Yes, I had a crush on Donny and of course I wanted to be Marie! Who would have thought years later I'd get to meet them in person? But, I did. We had such a great time at the show, they are unbelievable performers and they both still look soo young. Here we are with them after the show. "Would someone pinch me please!" It was definitely a highlight to my year!

Kennedy won Miss Pre-Teen Illinois Dream Girl USA! It was a huge surprise considering she was the youngest in her division. I told her after the first night of competition that we are here for the experience and to just have fun. Well, after she got off the stage of first round competition she said, and I quote,, "We have work to do, let's go practice." She had me up till midnight practicing...it paid off! When they announced her name I became the loudest mom ever (like that would surprise anyone!). Here she is with her family, her proud brother, Caden, and the beauty in the lavender is, Nicole Framerin, a client I coach for Miss Teen USA.
We're all so proud and happy!!! Now, off to nationals...and yes, that's the weekend before I give up my crown as Mrs. Illinois America. It's going to be one busy month May!!!

I have had so much fun this year modeling in fashion shows for various organizations. I have to say, though, that the most fun I have is when Tracy Tarrentino from Zazz Productions is involved. She is one of the most talented people I know and I believe this was my fifth or sixth fashion show I did for her. As always....a blast and a blessing!

Omega Restaurant Is The Place To Be!!

One of my directors' favorite restaurants is Omega's. After an earlier appearance that afternoon with Julie and Marcie we all met up at Omega's for dinner. Joe surprised us with a few special guests including a few judges from the pageant. It was great to see them again, share great conversation and talk about an amazing year I've had. Here I am with the head of the restaurant as well as a few valued patrons. They all knew Joe because he's a VIP customer too!

Last Weekend it was a privilege to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the Fellowship Housing Gala. It was the first annual black tie event benefiting Fellowship Housing. Their mission is to transform the lives of the homeless or at-risk single moms and their children by providing safe, affordable housing and holistic mentoring to guide them from crisis to long-term stability and independence. Women and children are heavy on my heartstrings and the core of my own mission work. I had the honor to not only serve as honorary chair but also deliver a speech to almost 300 people. The event, which was titled, "There is no Place Like Home", and held at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg was a success and raised over $70,000.

Fellowship Housing Gala Board Meeting

A few months ago I was asked to serve as the honorary chair for the Fellowship Housing Gala coming up February 21st at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois. It will be a black tie affair that will benefit homeless women and children. Anyone that knows me knows that women and children are the main pull of my heartstrings. This isn't the first time that I will speak to a group about homelessness but it is just as important and meaningful to me to do my best. Here I am at one of the committee meetings speaking to the group, and then, shooting some publicity photos. The committee has done a phenomenal job in preparation for the event and I so look forward to an amazing evening.

It has been a very fulfilling year thus far as Mrs. Illinois America. I have had the opportunity to speak out on two causes very important to me and my family. One being global poverty and AIDS while the other is pouring into our youth. I have had the chance to meet with various magazines and television stations and speak about both topics. Here I am with Ashley from Suburban Woman Magazine. She was such a sweet gem to sit down with. We discussed the Mrs. Illinois America pageant, the "power of pageants" and having such great directors. I already began recruiting her for the pageant.....but we'll have to wait till she gets married!

Happy Birthday My Baby Caden!

Birthdays are a big deal in my family. We don't just celebrate one day, it's like a week long event. Here we are with my parents, brother and sister in law celebrating Caden's birthday. I can't believe he is now 7 years old. My baby is growing up so fast. It just brings to life the saying that time flies. This has been a realization for me in many ways this past year. We need to celebrate life, cherish our family and friends, live to make a difference while we are here, and never let a day go by without telling those that you love just how much you do!

I had the honor of being asked to appear on the NBC morning show to discuss my book "Girls of Greatness". It was an early morning alright...I was to arrive and check in at 5:30 a.m.. I made sure to have my spark drink after waking up at 4:15. I got to chat with Ellie Pai Hong before our interview segment and found out that we attend the same church..what a small world. It has been quite some time since I've done live T.V so I admit there were some nerves that resurfaced. Ellie made it so comfortable, it was an easy interview. Who Said It's All Work And No Play???

I have to say I have the best directors ever. I say this not because they were so supportive in preparing me for the national pageant, or because they awarded me with one of the best prize packages I've ever experienced, or that Mrs. Illinois America is the best pageant system out there. I say it because they truly are family. Once I had won the title of Mrs. Illinois America I became part of a family that I was not anticipating. Marcie and Julie are not only my directors, they are my extended family. Here we are celebrating Julie's birthday. We went to Hollywood Cinema for the great movie "Hotel for Dogs". All three of us have dogs and can relate to canine unconditional love. We laughed and cried...and ate and ate! It was an awesome day!

New Year's Eve with the Family!

It was New Year's Eve with my family. My brother and his family flew in from Texas as did my sister and her son. We had a ball sharing together. We did New Years like I did when I was young. I gave the babies and young children pots and pans to clang and bang to ring in the New Year. Poor Dean....for some reason all the neices and nephews wanted to clang their pots by him. He rang in the New Year with a definite "bang" in the ear. Family is everything!

Book Signing and Serving Fellowship Housing

I had the honor of being asked to attend the Fellowship Housing Christmas party for homeless women and children. It was even more meaningful because my family and I served these women and children together. I greeted everyone at the door when they arrived and gave them an autograph copy of my book. Dean and Caden were looking ever so snazzy in their "waiter" attire of black pants and a white shirt. Together, they sat the ladies and children then served them dinner. Kennedy had her own duty of making jewelry with the kids so they had a gift to then give their mom. It truly was a night of joy. For the women and children to know how special they are and that they matter. Also, for our family, to be able to use our gifts, each one different, and serve those less fortunate.

The Proverbial Christmas Card Shoot!

Ahhhhhh, yes, the Christmas card shoot. Kennedy and Caden look forward to this every year. I try to find cute matching sweaters, come up with a theme, keep saying "One More" while they say, "Are we done yet?". And, in the end we always end up with 200 choices and always choose one of the first shots. Here's to all the mothers and our quest for the proverbial Christmas card shot!

So yes the holiday season was a wonderful one that was far to short. Dean and I took our children to a wonderful breakfast with Santa at LaStrada in Barrington. They got to speak with Santa and share their Christmas Lists. Caden had written his the night before and I think Santa was quite surprised while trying to contain his thrill in hearing him rattle it off. Thei first thing on his list? A flat screen T.V. followed by an IPhone. Of course we tried to explain that a TV or Iphone is not feasible for a 6 year old. But to Caden's credit...he dreams big!

I made an appearance at a special holiday open house at Spa Martinique in Schaumburg, IL. Here I am with the owners, Ramona and Deborah. The spa is just beautiful and offers full array of services. During the open house I brought my daughter Kennedy Ann and she had her first "paraffin wax". Kennedy took a picture with some other guests showing off their wax covered hands...which they loved once all the wax was peeled off. It was a day of pampering, hot cider, and scrumptious desserts!

Having the opportunity to serve as Mrs. Illinois has been a blessing in more ways than one. It is also the same as being an author. My book, Girls of Greatness is now out and I have had the chance to attend signings or appearances and sign copies for many girls. I often, though, don't get the chance to see them again. But not in this case. Brianna is the daughter of the owner of Brizanne Couture in Naperville. On a day that I was in the store to meet with a client for pageant coaching I was able to spend time with Brianna. She had read my book and loved it. Hearing how much she enjoyed it and what all she gleaned out of it was such a special feeling. I realized, everything we do in life has an effect on others and this, was a reminder, that all the work was all worth while. Brianna is one "Girl of Greatness".....Here's to you Brianna!!

Girls of Greatness visited the Joliet Marine Corp Center for our latest show. The girls sat in awe as they listened to a female marine share the duties of our fine soldiers. Staff Sergent Smith is the only female marine at the Joliet Center. After taping our interview the girls went outside for a quick tour of the vehicles used, then it was off to their own obstacle course. They got to feel what it's like to crawl on your stomach, roll, run, and dodge things, all while weathering the cold fall elements. It was one of our better shows and the girls had a blast...not sure how their moms might feel when they come home with grass stained knees though!

Tracy Tarrantino from Zazz Productions was the choreographer of the Barrington Junior's Fashion show. She is just the best ever. Her shows go beyond the average fashion show. I have had the honor to work with her on four shows already and each one out does the previous! Love this lady!! Oh yes, and her skirt, isn't that an eye catcher. It's from Maria Pinto out of Chicago, who dresses Michelle Obama. I had the privilege of wearing one of her designs in the show too.

On November 14th my husband and I had the honor of sharing in a very special night with one of our dear friends. Rob Samson, a market manager at Wachovia Securities with Dean was given the title of "Honorary Mayor" for Little City. Little City is a remarkable organization that serves individuals with special needs. Rob and his wife Julie work tirelessly to help raise funds and awareness for the organization. Here Dean and I are with Rob and Julie right after he was given his award and recognition. It was a wonderful event held at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago.

On November 9th I was the featured VIP Guest at the St. Jude's Children's Hospital Fashion Show. It was such a wonderful event. Marcie had coordinated a table for our guests. It was Julie, Marcie, Carol ( our senior chaperone for Mrs. Illinois), my daughter Kennedy Ann, and my good friend Sonal Patel, and former Mrs. Illinois, Michelle Barber (who I think is just a sweetheart). My mother was to also be with us but she was unfortunately under the weather and unable to attend. Here I am at the cocktail reception before lunch greeting and welcoming guests. There were 1,000 guests total.

Global Poverty and AIDS is one of my platforms along with Girls of Greatness and building into our youth of today. My daughter, Kennedy Ann started her own jewelry making business a year ago to help make a difference in the lives of children in South Africa and Zambia. As a family we are currently building an orphan home. But Kennedy, has been making huge strides on her own. She donates her proceeds to global Connections at Willow Creek Church. They have designated her money specifically for purchasing uniforms for children so they can go to school (In South Africa and other surrounding countries children can not go to school unless they have a uniform). Since the inception of KeKe Creations almost one year ago, Kennedy has been able to provide uniforms for more than 150 children. Yes, the proud mamma has to boast. My 10 year old daughter helped to send 150 children to school. I look at my children and know what blessings they are to me and Dean. But, I have to say, God often speaks to me through my children and their actions. I learn more and more every day, how small our world is, how we all have gifts and talents, and how we all can make a difference in some form or fashion.
Here, my girlfriend, Sandi Vigou hosted a mother/daughter party to benefit KeKe Creations. Sandi has her own jewelry and purse business and she wanted to donate a portion of her proceeds to Kennedy. Off to the Awards Show at Macy's

After the Fashion Show we were off to the awards show at Macy's on State Street. I have to admit I do miss Marshall Fields but it was still a nostalgic feeling once inside. It was a long, but amazing night! Here I am on the red carpet, where I stood to take pictures with guests and sponsors. Then, off to the cocktail reception where I was interview for t.v., and then presenting awards.

Latin Fahion Week

On November 2nd I was asked to be a VIP guest at Latin Fashion Week in downtown Chicago. The event was held at the beautiful Drake Hotel on Michigan Avenue. It was absolutely stunning. These are just a few pictures that I was able to capture with my camera. I actually had my own professional photographer, that our sponsor had, follow us around. He was snapping shots left and right. The funny thing is that there were about 50 other photographers doing the same. I truly felt like a "Queen For A Day". I got to greet everyone, have a professional photographer shoot me all day, try on the most amazing fur coats, sit in the VIP section with the likes of Rita Moreno, and talk with Sylvia Perez from ABC 7. Here are a few pictures of my photo shoot at the Drake Hotel, then me signing autographs for little princesses.

Girls of Greatness

During my reign there are many causes I hope to touch on and make a positive impact. One of those causes is "Girls of Greatness". It is a program that I started with the Boys and Girls Club 3 years ago. It works to build self esteem in young girls and instiling in them where there true value comes from..from within. We work to teach them to dream in color, embrace their unique qualities and know they are blessings and not burdens, and use their gifts and talents to give back. Another part of the program is introducing the girls to a wide array of career choices. They can be all they dream to be! Well, the proram has grown into a book and now a television show. Here we are taping one of the segments.

It's a full year of appearances and fun. Right when I returned from nationals I had appearances already booked. My first appearance was at the opening of the South Barrington Arboretum Shopping Plaza. It was a wonderful experience. I was asked to sit on stage with the mayor and then speak to the audience. It truly was an honor. Later, I stayed to sign autographs with Wayne Messmer, from the Cubs and Black Hawks...he's the voice of the National Anthem. He did the same for the audience that day.

Time to Vacation with the Family!

After being away from the family for 10 days Dean and I decided to extend our stay for some quality family time. Dean, Kennedy, Caden and I had a wonderful time just being together, swimming, playing, hiking, and even looking for "snakes" for Caden.
Dean even rented a convertible one day and we drove to Old Tucson. It was the perfect ending to a fairy tale dream come true!

It meant the world for me to have my family there to share in my Mrs. America experience. My parents flew in from Illinois, as did my brother, Tim and sister -in-law Lori. Then, my brother Dan flew in from Texas with his family: my sister-in-law Patricia, and my two nephews Zachary and Danny and my neice Lisa. My sister also flew in from Texas with my nephew Michael. It was awesome to have the whole family together! Love you all!

I was honored to have made the top twelve at nationals. Like I said before, one of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11. I know God has a plan and His plan is perfect! Now, it was the perfect time to relax, eat, relax some more, and eat! Here are a few pictures from after the pageant. It was great to have my supportive family there to share in it all. Here I am with Isabel, the make up artist from New York, Kelly, the makeup artist from Arizona, and then me with my directors Marcie and Joe. Joe had the pizza waiting for us after the pageant!

The Evening Gown

This is the evening gown I wore at state. Therefore it has a special meaning behind it..I won in it! I also won the evening gown portion of the pageant. I had designed the gown myself with Mira at Mira Couture out of Chicago. We picked out the fabrics together and the gown was sewn by hand. The gown was then adorned with hundreds upon hundreds of more Swarovski crystals after state, in preparation of nationals. My directors carried it out special for me....Thank you Marcie and Joe...they are just the best!

I have to say a heart felt "Thank You" to my good friend and trainer, Stephanie West. Steph kept me on track, motivated, and focused. I suppose it helped, too, that she lived with us for a while. I couldn't call in sick on training days. She would just knock on the bedroom door if I wasn't out by 5:15 AM....yes, I said AM...anyone that knows me knows, I am not a morning person. There was a lot of spark to drink. Which, brings me to another thank you and that is to Advocare. I have taken Advocare for years and share the products with anyone who asks me about my training regimen.....Just ask me!

The girls finished shoppping and headed out to a great dinner. We dined on wonderful Italian cuisine then danced the night away(well, I only did two songs). Mrs. Michigan and Mrs. Minnesota knew how to work the dance floor. We all had a blast doing the electric slide. I can't remember the last time I did that.

Me with Mrs. Delaware. We had a surreal moment when we found out we both are doing work for global poverty. Lili visited the same country I had. Last November I visited South AFrica and Zambia to see frist hand the devastation of global poverty and AIDS. My husband and I are now building an orphan home over in South Africa. While at nationals I found out that Lili also visited Zambia for the same reason. Her heart is just huge and her spirit so gentle. Another friend for a lifetime!

I'm off to nationals. I was told to wear my sash on the flight out. I have to admit I was a bit taken back and shy on that endeavor. Once I arrived I had a day to rest before my room mate arrived. I then met my wonderful room mate, Jaclyn Stapp, Mrs. Florida. She and I hit it off right away. She is just a gem. I'm grateful for being able to share the experience with her and even more that we became good friends. I look forward to a growing friendship...and a tirp to Florida during winter months!

Our Trip to Sonsor Brizanne!!

I had one last trip before heading out to Arizona. This one was to pick out another gown from another sponsor...Briazanne of Naperville. It was another funfilled day with Marcie and Julie. Again, we went in for one gown and were inundated with choices. Sue, the owner, is just an amazing woman with a heart of gold. She is someone I have become friends with and will continue to grow in friendship. The pageant brought us together but our connection will keep us together! Here is me with my mom, Marcie, and Julie...and of course BeBe (if you look closely, our dresses match)!

A Special Send Off

A Little Send Off party was a surprise from my husband and children, Kennedy Ann and Caden. With only 5 weeks to get ready I really didn't want a big send off. So, my husband gave a special one for me with our two children. They made signs, and gifts, and even made me my own "crown". You'll see Dean crowning me! The best part? Dean actually wrote me a letter/poem. It was a very special moment as he read it to me in front of the family. He quoted one of my favorite scriptures, Jeremiah 29:11 and told me to "Believe". That I did, and continue to do. I believe that God has a plan for us all, no matter what the outcome was going to be it was already decided and my future already is too.

I had my shoot with Fadil Berisha, in New York, for my official "Mrs. Illinois" photo. Here I am in make up and with Fadil. He is a very talented photographer. It was such an honor to work with such a man. Walking into his studio I was humbled to say the least. Not only does he shoot Miss USA and Miss Universe but Donald Trump, and Halle Berry grace his walls as well. New York, New York!

After winning it truly has been a whirlwind of events, especially in preparation for nationals. I needed to get a new headshot for nationals and my directors thought it would be great to shoot with world renowned photographer, Fadil Berisha, who is the official photographer of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageant. So, with the wonderful husband I have, he said, "make it a full weekend and take Kennedy." The Acetos made all the arrangements and off we went. I had my girlfriend Cindi and her daughter Emma join us. It was a full weekend of photo shoots, shopping and shows! We had a ball. Here is Kennedy and I arriving at the airport. The whirlwind begins!

After being on cloud nine for the weekend. The following week, the Whirlwind began to get ready for nationals. It started with a wonderful dinner with my new directors Joe, Marcie, and Julie. Dean and I had a wonderful time with them. Then the scheduling began. There were appearances, wardrobe fittings, dresses to chose from, a photo shoot in New York, shopping, working out, and did I mention shopping? All this to take place and prepare me and my family for the trip of a lifetime..all within 5 weeks!

The Beginning

This past July a dreamof mine came true and a goal met. I was crowned Mrs. Illinois America. It was a moment in time I will never forget and cherish forever. That night as the silence was surmounting and my heart pounding I heard those long awaited words I had envisioned in my mind, "and your new Mrs. Illinois America is....Lisa Niewolny." Surrounded by family and friends to share in the celebration my night was complete. It was later brought to my attention that I should do a blog for others to share in the reign. I have to admit, being the private person that I am, I was quite hesitant (not to mention I've never done one before). Then I remembered, it's not about me but what God can do through me. This is something that is much bigger than myself. I have been quite involved with many organizations and causes such as Global Poverty and AIDS, Boys and Girls Club, abused women and children, and Girls of Greatness just to name a few. I hope to spend my reign spreading the message of pouring into our youth and building their self esteem while realizing their self worth. I will also use the opportunity to speak about global poverty and the need for everyone to help in making a difference. I believe everyone can make a difference in this lifetime with the life they've been given. We all have been given gifts and talents to use and make a difference in the lives of others. I am grateful for the opportunity and blessings given and yet to come. I am honored to be a part of such a great organization, Mrs. Illinois America. Lastly I am humbled to serve as Mrs. Illinois America and be amongst those wonderful ladies who have gone before me. With that being said, I welcome you to join in my journey as Mrs. Illinois America and together making a difference.
